Amy Ewing | EXCITING NEWS!!

EXCITING NEWS!!

I am super thrilled to finally announce that the second book in the Lone City trilogy has a title and a release date. THE WHITE ROSE will be available in stores October 6, 2015!!

But October is still so far away. So in the meantime, there will be an e-book novella released in July. THE HOUSE OF THE STONE tells a little bit about what is happening to Raven in the horrible palace of the Stone, under the Countess’s direction. And let me warn youβ€”if you thought Violet had it bad, it’s nothing compared to poor Raven’s experience.

Hopefully this makes the wait for THE WHITE ROSE a bit easier. Can’t wait till next fall!

First I want to say I am very very excited about the next book coming out. But now for the sad news. I drove up to Princeton (over a 2 hours drive) to see you and you weren’t there πŸ™ I did get to meet 4 other authors there so it wasn’t a complete bust. I guess I mixed up the times. On Barnes and Noble it said the book signing was from 11-4. I could only hang around til 1pm. Hopefully I will have another opportunity to have my book signed and meet you. I really like your writing style!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Suzie! I am sorry about the mix-up–I told B&N I could only be there from 3-4. So sorry I missed you! I hope I’ll be able to meet you at another event!! I’m so glad you liked The Jewel, thank you so much for reading and for reaching out to me. And I’m glad you got to meet some other cool authors at least! XO

      • Shamii says:

Gawd!! Soooo stoked Amy!! I just finish reading book 1 this morning and it made me hold my breath till the last period of the sentence!!! Can’t wait till October

      • Flick says:

        hi
i have read all your books and they are amazing. I was wondering when the 3rd book will come out and what will it be called?

        • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much! I do not have a release date for the third book yet, though I’m hoping it will come out next fall πŸ™‚ As for the title, I’ll be revealing that (and maybe the cover too!) soon!!

          • Kat says:

Hi Amy !!! I have read the first two books already. When will the final book comes out. Im from the Philippines by the way.

          • AmyEwing says:

It should be out sometime next fall! I don’t know the official publication date yet…

          • Jimbee says:

I wish you can published it here in the Philippines as soon at is released. . I am very excited and curious what will happen to Hazel….

          • AmyEwing says:

It will come out in the Philippines the same day it comes out in the US, so you will get it as soon as it is available! I know, poor Hazel!

          • Audrey M says:

Is the third book seriously only coming out in like one year??? I CANNOT wait that long, I just finished the second book and it was such a cliffhanger

          • AmyEwing says:

Yes, the third book will be out next Sept/Oct! I know, why do trilogies have to take so long?? πŸ™

      • Emma says:

I just finished The White Rose and I can’t wait for the next book!! Do you have an idea of when it might come out?

      • Ella says:

        Hi Amy,
I was wondering if you’re going to write a third book to the Jewel because you left us on a big cliff hanger in The White Rose.
If you are, when is it coming out?
        Thank you for you time.
        -Ella

        • AmyEwing says:

Hi Ella! Yes, there is a third book–it’s called The Black Key and will be out in October. I could never leave the story hanging like that! πŸ™‚

    • Emmy says:

what will the third book be called?!?!?! I am super excited for the last piece of the Jewel puzzle!

  2. Har says:

I can’t wait for the second book because i’d been having dreams about Garnet (I think he’s such a hottie) though he wasn’t mentioned much in The Lone City! And for Raven’s novella can’t wait either.

    • AmyEwing says:

OMG yes, Garnet is super hot. Agreed. I wish he would visit my dreams! I’m excited for the novella too–it was so much fun to write from her perspective πŸ™‚ And if you thought Violet had it bad in the Jewel, oh boy, it’s nothing compared to Raven…

      • Cami says:

Will there be another novella to hold us over until next fall for the 3rd book? I can’t wait! Maybe one about Garnet and his married life, or one of the other in the black key.

        • AmyEwing says:

There WILL be another novella, and it will be from Garnet’s perspective! And I’m super excited about it πŸ™‚

  3. Claire says:

    Hi,
I was given The Jewel as a Christmas present. I just wanted to say I absolutely LOVE IT! I didn’t want to put it down and I read the whole book cover to cover in 2 evenings!! I cannot wait for the second book and I’m so pleased it’s a trilogy.
Massive thanks from England for a great book. Xx

  4. Danielle says:

I cannot wait for the other books!! I loved The Jewel! And the cliffhanger at the end just killed me! Thanks so much for a great book! I kind of wanted Garnet and Violet to get together though…

  5. Julie says:

I literally just finished reading the jewel, and i just wanted to say i absolutely loved it and cannot wait for the second one! It was so original and beautifully written and completely took my breath away with every page! Thank you so much for writing it, it is definitely one of my new favorites!! (And i especially liked Garnet and Ash!!!)

    • AmyEwing says:

WOW! Thank you so so much! I’m thrilled you enjoyed it. And I love Garnet and Ash too πŸ™‚ Can’t they just be real please?? <3

  6. Ruth says:

My friend and I are so excited for the next book/s we can hardly wait. She didn’t know I was reading it, so when I told her, we couldn’t (and haven’t) stopped talking about it. A part of me is “OMG Garnet is sooooo the Knight in Shining Armor” but anoher part of me is saying how can he be trusted? Yes he did have an Arcana, but all of a sudden he’s serious and not acting childish. But thats what sequels for- answering questions. I hope.

    • AmyEwing says:

Hahaha, yes I hope the second book will answer some of your questions!! My lips are sealed of course πŸ˜‰ But so glad you and your friend enjoyed The Jewel! XO

      • Brittany says:

I read The Jewel a few months ago and loved it. I hadn’t gotten to read the other book about Raven yet but am so curious on a release date for “The Jewel 2” I know it was tentative for September 2015. Is that still looking likely?

        • Brittany says:

my bad lol. I just realized “The Jewel 2” was The White Rose. sorry.

          • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you liked The Jewel!! Neither Raven’s story or The White Rose are out yet–alas! But Oct 6 is the official release date for the second book.

      • Jorja says:

I read the first and second book and i am obsessed! Are you making a secon one because this cliff hanger makes me want to scream i am just so exited!

        • AmyEwing says:

There will be one more book! And I promise that one won’t end on a cliffhanger πŸ™‚ I’m so glad you’re liking the series!!

          • Jorja says:

Omg yes! I looooove the series. Who needs a bunch of books in a series as long as each one tells a great story. I cant wait for the next one!

  7. Aiah says:

OMG I CAN NOT POSSIBLY WAIT!!

  8. Katty says:

I totally agree Aiah, and remember when we were discussing That very nice mute girl (whats her name!?!?!?) that befriended Violet; She had a huge interest on Garnet, and i’m worried that will become a problem :/ TEAM GARNET or TEAM GARLET πŸ˜€

  9. Shannon says:

    Hiya,
I just wanted to say I cant wait for The House of Stone to come out, I was always wondering what happened to Raven she is probably my favourite character. And I loved the first book sooooo much, I was in a book store in Folkestone and it was the only thing that interested me. I read it all in one night and had to read it all over again to make sure I remembered it . LOL xx

  10. Shannon says:

I’m so upset that I have to wait till October! Ill be in uni then doing English literature! Hope I have time to read your second book! Not that the first one took me long haha;) just wanted to tell you how unique the world you created is with its cruel beauty. I loved it! Might have to read Jewel again as I miss the world already! Looking forward to the second! Hopefully Ash doesn’t die as I’m a bit in love with him:( perhaps you could name a small character after me? Would mean a lot but haha my name may not fit very well! Good luck with the new book!

    • AmyEwing says:

Wow, thank you so much! I’m so glad you got sucked into the world–that’s my very favorite part about reading (and writing) books. I love Ash too! But to be fair, I love them all… πŸ˜‰

  11. Emily says:

    Hi,
I never read books but as its holidays I got bored and went to find a particular book but it wasn’t there, so instead I picked up your book and I’m glad I did! I could not put this book down. I read a post saying that the next book wasn’t coming out till October but then I read this post saying there is going to be a Novella about Raven! I can’t wait and I think from Ravens perspective it will be very interesting. I’m so eager to find out what happens in the second book- the ending of the book really makes me wish it was already October!!!!! Emily x P.S. Congrats on your first book πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much! Sooooo glad you enjoyed The Jewel πŸ™‚ I know, October seems so far away! But yes, Raven’s story comes first. And if you thought Violet had it bad, Raven has it even worse!

  12. Sammy says:

    Hi amy!
My name is sammy and i am from New Zealand. i just wanted to say that i was indulged in this book i seriously could not put it down. I am pretty picky with books two but this is like something i have never read. I am on the edge of my seat too find out what happens in the second book! I am also curious about what happens to lily? but anyway just letting you know that i am counting down the days for that book to be released! Keep on going your absolutely brilliant!
    Many thanks
    Sammy

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks Sammy!! So thrilled you liked The Jewel!! You’ll have to wait to the second book to find out more about Lily πŸ™‚ But thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me!

PS I went to New Zealand in 2011 and absolutely fell in love–what a beautiful country!

      • Carmel says:

Hi – My daughter has been waiting forever for October to roll around to get the second book! However I have been unable to find a copy of it anywhere in New Zealand. Do you know who the distributor is or where it would be available????
PS – I have to admit that I couldn’t put the book down either and will be waiting impatiently for her to finish it!!

        • AmyEwing says:

What? This is upsetting to hear! It is one hundred percent definitely available in NZ. The publisher is Walker Books, if that helps. I’m so glad you and your daughter liked The Jewel! XO

  13. Janice says:

Hi Ms. Amy. I just want to thank you for writing The Jewel. I had fun and felt lots of emotions while reading it. Actually, I like and dislike Violet in some ways but above all, I like her. Hehe. I also like the way you beautifully describe each scene in the book, as if I’m also one of the characters. So now, I’m looking forward on what will happen to Violet in Book II of The Jewel. I’m wishing you all the best in your career.

Oh! By the way, I like Garnet, too…especially for Violet. πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much Janice! I’m thrilled you liked The Jewel–and liked Violet too πŸ™‚ I’m excited for the release of the second book as well. October seems so far away!

  14. Claire says:

Hello! I purchased your book for a report in school, and my friends loved it, but they had many questions. I loved the Jewel and I connot wait for The White Rose, I really await seeing the cover! When I get older I would also like to be an author, like you. Do you have any advice on how to achieve your goals?

    • AmyEwing says:

Write. That’s my advice. Put words down on paper. Really, some days that’s all it’s about for me! Getting the words down, even when it seems impossible. Telling a story I love. Creating a world I want to live in, that I wish was real. Finish something you start–there is a lot of power in finishing a project.

I’m so glad you and your friends enjoyed The Jewel!! (I’ve seen a mock up of The White Rose cover and can safely say it is GORGEOUS!)

  15. Mandy says:

I loved The Jewel so much! I felt like I was apart of the story because it was written so beautifully. I couldn’t put it down! I love Ash and Violet together. Please do not let him die so they can live happily ever after

    • AmyEwing says:

Aw, thank you so much! Hahaha, I can’t reveal what’s going to happen in the two books, but I do love me some Ash! XO

      • Mandy says:

That’s to bad because I don’t know how I will survive until October. I totally wish I could find a real life Ash because I love the character so much = )

  16. Olivia says:

    Hello!
At first I just wanted to say I LOVED your book!

  17. Angela says:

I would say I read as often as I can to make the best recommendations possible for my students, but that would be such a fib. I love reading and even judge a purse based on how many books will fit inside. Point being, it has been a hot minute since I’ve finished a book and squealed in absolute horror. You have given your book the absolute BEST cliffhanger and my kids are going to love it. I don’t suppose we can discuss that release date, though? πŸ˜€

    • AmyEwing says:

YAY!!!! I’m so glad you liked it and think your students will too. Yay again! Hahaha, I know, October does seem like it’s ages away. And with that ending, it’s just cruel! πŸ˜‰

  18. Amanda Sanchez says:

Just wanted to say that I loved “The Jewel”. Truly has become one of my favorite books. I am so excited for “The White Rose” and “The House of Stone”.

  19. Mandy says:

Do u have any events coming soon?

    • AmyEwing says:

I don’t have anything on the calendar at the moment, but I will definitely be keeping this site updated on any events in the future!

  20. Anu says:

    Ms. Ewing,
For a debut novel this is simply stunning. I have read more than my fair share of dystopian teenage novels and I do not remember the last time I sat down to binge read a novel. You have outshone the hundreds of other dystopian authors who are trying for the next “Hunger Games”. As a fan of Margaret Atwood I love what you have done here. I am recommending this book to my high school students and cannot wait to here more about this fantastic world.

    • AmyEwing says:

Wow, thank you so much, Anu! I’m so glad you enjoyed The Jewel–and I hope your students will too! XO

  21. MamaMandy says:

I must admit, part of the reason I picked up ‘The Jewel’ was the cover. Not that it is anything to judge by (according to the old cliche), but I was absolutely NOT disappointed. I am anxiously awaiting the upcoming novella and second book. Great job with the plot twists and turns. It was a fantastic read.

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! That cover is so gorgeous, right? The design team at HarperCollins is insanely talented. Thanks so much for reading!!

  22. Marie Rivera says:

I received The Jewel as a birthday gift, and I wasn’t expecting it will turn out so wonderful (took me one and a half day to read it), except for the end. Don’t get me wrong I love/hate the end, the thing is I wanted more! I can’t wait for The House of The Stone and The White Rose to be released.

Btw. It was an honor seeing you, and learning more about you and your experiences via Skype.

    Marie Rivera
    San Juan, Puerto Rico

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Marie!! I had an absolutely great time talking with you guys on Skype. Totally understand the love/hate relationship with ending πŸ™‚

  23. Allie says:

Hi!! Just want to say I LOVED your book the ending was amazing! And when I was reading it I took the cover off so it wouldn’t get messed up. And my mom threw it away

  24. Marisa says:

Hi Amy! I’m so excited about the next book, The Jewel is one of my favourite book and I can’t wait until The White Rose come out! And I’m so gonna read the novella about Raven. I just have a question, I saw that you did a tour after the released of your book, and I was just wondering if next time you will come in Canada because I’m a really big fan and I wish I could meet you.
    Marisa πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Marisa! I’m so thrilled you liked The Jewel!! I’m excited about The White Rose and Raven’s novella too πŸ™‚ As far as tour dates are concerned, I honestly don’t get to choose where I go, or if I go on tour at all! That’s totally in the hands of my publishers. But I would LOVE to come visit Canada and if I do you can bet I’ll be posting about it here! XO

  25. Emma says:

Hi I absolutely loved this book can’t wait for the next one I was just wandering but how old is violet and ash and what colour eyes does ash have because I keep thinking he has green eyes

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Emma! I’m so thrilled you liked The Jewel!! To answer your questions: Violet is 16 and Ash’s eyes are gray-green. It’s the first thing Violet notices about him πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me! XO

  26. Mantys says:

So a mate at work recommends that I read this book called “The Jewel”, though comments that I may want to ebook it as the cover isn’t too masculine and might raise eyebrows on the train to work.
Downloaded Sunday night, started on the train Monday morning, finished Monday afternoon with a “what the…” The thing about ebooks is you don’t know when you are reaching the end, so when it happens you can be left feeling quite gutted.
Excellent writing style, excellent fully developed characters – happily gave it 5 stars on Kindle. Now if you could stop answering blogs and get to work finishing books 2 and 3 I would be extremely grateful πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Wow, thank you so much!! Yes, the cover is rather “girly” but I’m so thrilled you decided to give it a read anyway! Book two is all finished and just waiting to be released on the shelves in October πŸ™‚ Thanks again!!
      XO

  27. Natalya says:

I have only just finished reading The Jewel and I am in love, I cant wait for the next book to come out. You are a really amazing writer Amy. XXOO

  28. Alexis says:

I absolutely loved The Jewel!! The idea of the story was very creative! Seriously, surrogates for the rich!? Who would have came up with that? It’s brilliant and very entertaining! When is the second book coming out? And what are some of your all-time favorite books?

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks Alexis!! I’m so glad you liked it πŸ™‚ The second book is called The White Rose will be out Oct 6. As for my all time favorite books…I loved Roald Dahl when I was a kid (The BFG is the best), and I loved Little Women when I was in middle school. Then I discovered high fantasy and Lord of the Rings and I was hooked! And I just finished reading the Game of Thrones series, so clearly I am a super fantasy nerd πŸ™‚

      • Alexis says:

You’re welcome, and I can’t wait to read it! I love the Lord of the Rings and Little Women as well, and don’t worry, I am a fantasy nerd as well lol.

  29. Hi Amy, I’m in the middle of reading the Jewel, and I must admit it is a fresh take on dystopian fiction. I Have a few questions that I want to ask. What was the inspiration and ideas for writing the lone city? What is your favorite dystopian series? Also, will we find out the reason how and why surggets die in childbirth in the next book? I am dying to know. Contact me soon.

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks Alexandria! I’m so glad you’re liking the book πŸ™‚ As for the inspiration for the story, it came while watching the movie Taken, which is a little weird I know. I wrote a whole blog post about it over at epicreads.com. My favorite dystopian book would have to be The Giver. It was a really powerful read for me when I was younger. (Though I do love the Hunger Games series–Peeta!!) I can’t tell you anything about the next book because you will just have to wait and see! Very Evil Author of me, I know. But thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me!

  30. Bonnie says:

I literally just finished reading The Jewel – it is definitely one of the best books that I have ever read and it only took me about 6 hours to finish!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got online to see if there was a sequel and where I can buy it and I found your website! I absolutely can’t wait for October to come so I can get The White Rose! Just wanted to tell you that I really, really love your writing and I really love the way you wrote the Jewel because it was really confusing at times (which I like) and it was very intriguing and… yeah I think it is just AMAZING!!!
Thanks so much and keep writing!
    From Bonnie

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you soooooo much Bonnie!! I’m thrilled you liked it πŸ™‚ And yes, can October just come already?? XO

  31. Abigail Gane says:

So I’ve read your book and I absolutely adore it. I’m a 17 year old student studying literature at Alevel in the UK ; I wish the novels I read for my course we’re as intriguing as The Jewel. I lost myself for hours.
I was hoping you could answer a few of my questions; what inspired you to write such an alternative storyline, was it something personal or is surrogacy something you’ve just been interested in?
Also, I’ve always been interested in writing, creative writing in particular, but I struggle with others reading my work as I worry about their judgement. How did you over come sharing your work with other or did it not worry you?
Lastly, Garnet, he was my favourite character throughout the book, his charisma was so intriguing, as a character he was different to the royals in the jewel. I felt like I could relate to his rebellious but moral behaviour. Does he continue to live on in the jewel or does he too leave with Violet? Garnet is my favourite character but who is yours?
    Kind regards
    Abigail Gane

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Abigail! I’m so thrilled you liked The Jewel!! To answer your questions:

      1. I wrote all about my inspiration for The Jewel in a blog post for EpicReads. You can check it out here: http://www.epicreads.com/blog/cover-reveal-the-jewel-by-amy-ewing/

      2. It’s hard! Sharing your stories with other people is the hardest part of this, but it’s also necessary. Find people who you trust, who will give you honest feedback and helpful critiques. Remember, not everyone is going to like everything. That’s something I deal with on a daily basis. You’ve got to tell the story YOU love.

      3. Ah, I love Garnet too! To find out what happens to him, though, you’ll have to read the next book πŸ˜‰ Personally, my favorite character is the Duchess. You never know what’s going on with her, whether to hate her or feel bad for her. But then again, I love all the characters in this book! Except the Countess of the Stone. She’s the worst πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for reading and reaching out!! XO

  32. Jess says:

Can I just say how much I adored The Jewel. I must say that from me that is quite a compliment, I read way too much and when I picked up your book at 2am to read the first chapter I couldn’t stop. By 4am it was finished. It was amazing and in the week that followed I must have read it another three times. I couldn’t be more excited for The White Rose, but if you make Ash die I will probably die too… so PLEASE don’t. Also will Raven’s novella be put into kindle edition?

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Jess! Wow, that was a real late night read! I love Ash too, though my lips are zipped as to what happens πŸ˜‰ And Raven’s novella will be e-book only, so you will definitely be able to get it on your Kindle! XO

  33. Ashley says:

I loved The Jewel so much! I read it, cover to cover, in one night! Thinking about what may happen to poor Raven makes me hope that she, as well as Annabelle, gets out of the Jewel and gets a happy ending. I hope to be able to buy The Jewel soon and then get The White Rose as a present – 1 copy for as a birthday present and another for my best friend. I know she’ll love this series as much as I did! Can’t wait!

    • AmyEwing says:

AW, thank you Ashley! I’m so glad you liked it! You should definitely check out The House of the Stone when it comes out in July to see what’s happening to poor Raven in the Countess’s palace. I hope your friend likes the book as much as you do! XO

  34. Jess says:

What colour of hair does Garnet and Ash have and also how old are they both?

  35. Jess says:

Who do you ship more Violet and Garnet or Violet and Ash?

  36. Elizabeth says:

Hello, Amy. Your book is really amazing. I love the story and cannot wait to read the sequel. Love Garnet and Violet together. I am definitely team Garnet.

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Elizabeth! I’m so glad you liked The Jewel! Haha, I love Garnet too. But to be fair, I love them all πŸ™‚ XO

  37. Annie says:

I’m in love. The end killed me, and I fell in love with Ash. I’m dying waiting for the next one. Amazing writing and great story!

    • AmyEwing says:

Wow, thank you so much Annie!! I love Ash too πŸ™‚ XO

      • Rebecca says:

Omg Amy I love your book soooo much 10/10 one of the best books I’ve read I can’t wait for the second book so excited. You are one of my fave authors and can’t wait to read your many books to come!!!!!!!! Xoxox

        • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Rebecca!! I’m so excited you liked The Jewel–I hope you like the books to come as well πŸ™‚ XO

  38. Jess says:

Have you written any other books other than The Jewel?

    • AmyEwing says:

The Jewel is my first book. But there will be more things coming from me πŸ™‚

      • Hi says:

Loved the jewel.and the white rose, great books but do you know how many books are going to be in the jewel series.

        • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you’re enjoying the series! There is one more book to come. It is called The Black Key and will be out in October πŸ™‚

  39. Nyra says:

Hi! I absolutely loved The Jewel, and am super excited for the sequel! I was just wondering if The White Rose will have arcs available to request?

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Nyra! There are definitely ARCs of The White Rose, but I’m not the one who decides who gets them. Please feel free to contact the publicity department at HarperTeen! I’m pretty sure they are in charge of all the ARCs. πŸ™‚ XO

      • Nyra says:

Thank you! I just sent an email to HarperTeen regarding the arc; crossing my fingers! : )

        • Nyra says:

How do you get in contact with HarperTeen? I’ve searched them, but I’m not sure if I contacted the right people…

  40. Really? Wait until October? I could not wait to get out translation into my native language and I have to wait for the second part !? Very good book Amy wish you well xoxo

  41. Nicole says:

I was supposed to be revising for upcoming exams, but I just couldn`t put this book down. I love all of the characters sooo much!!! πŸ˜‰
October seems so far away…. 0_0
(P.s. Saw in your bio that you like to `binge watch The Vampire Diaries`, I think you have great taste in TV haha).

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Nicole! I hope The Jewel didn’t get too much in the way of your studying πŸ™‚ I’m so glad you liked it. And yeah, why isn’t October closer?

PS Ash is actually based (physically) on Stefan. That is the extent of my love of TVD πŸ™‚

      • Nicole says:

        No it didn`t πŸ˜‰
Now I`m thinking it, I can actually imagine it
(I think I love Ash that little bit more haha).
I really hope that you carry on writing for as long as possible (you are my new favourite author alongside L.J Smith).
        You are truly an inspiration

  42. Catherine Mole says:

I got The Jewel as a birthday gift and I really loved it. The ending is such a shocker. I never thought Garnet would be an important character. I am so excited for The White Rose! I would also buy The House of the Stone. Wow I would end up so broke because of this but still, I am so excited!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks Catherine!! Yes, The House of the Stone has some really cool stuff that ends up in The White Rose, so I totally encourage you to check it out πŸ™‚ I’m so glad you liked The Jewel! XO

  43. Katie says:

I love your book!! I’ve read it 3 times now, and it only gets better! Your writing style is fantastic, and I love the story of Violet and can’t wait until October. I am in the UK, so do you have any idea when the second book will be published in England please? Thank you very much and congratulations on the Jewel! Xx

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Katie!! I’m thrilled you like it! The second book will be out in October–not sure of the exact date but The Jewel release was very close to the US date in the UK, so probably around Oct 6! XO

  44. Lisa says:

I absolutely loved reading the Jewel and am going crazy waiting for the next installment. I can’t wait for the release. Even July seems too long to wait for The House of Stone novella!

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you liked it, Lisa!! I know, why must books take so long to be published? But never fear, October is coming! (And July too!) XO

  45. tori says:

This book is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I just wish that I didn’t have to wait so long for the next one. I’m obsessed. I really really hate waiting.

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you, Tori! I know, why must October be so far away? But don’t worry, it is coming πŸ™‚ XO

  46. Courtney says:

I am so much in love with your book. I cannot get over that cliffhanger. My favourite character if Garnet…because he seems misunderstood. I appreciate your work so much. It is unique and amazing. Letting you know thay you have fans in Grenada (that’s in the Caribbean).

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Courtney! I love Garnet too–he’s such a loveable jerk πŸ™‚

  47. yoyo says:

i read the book and didn.t know there was a sequel until now and i’m over the moon!! cant wait till October even though it seems quite far away!!!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Yes, there is a second AND a third book! I would never be so cruel as to leave the story hanging like that πŸ™‚

  48. Crystal says:

    Hey Amy!

Just devoured your book in the last 4 hours. I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved the details of all the royals names being after jewels, I love when authors put stuff in like that. I hate having to wait so long for the second, but I’m sure that it’s a knock out!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Crystal! I loved researching all the names (each circle has its own theme). I can’t wait for the second one to be out in the world too! XO

  49. Manahil says:

I finished reading The Jewel and I have been dying since then to read the next book.
I LOVE books with this kind of story line
And when it ended with Garnet saying “we’re going to save you” my heart was literally going to come out and I was screaming, the excitement just killed me.
I can’t wait until the next book releases.
    Keep up the good work.
Amy you’re my favourite author from now on πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much! I’m thrilled you liked it. And I like to keep readers on their toes πŸ˜‰

  50. Calla says:

    Hi!
I know you probably get this a lot and hear this everyday but I just want to say that I absolutely loved The Jewel! I have been struggling to find a book that I thoroughly enjoy, but then I found your book in a book store and it was the first book that i had loved in a long time. I recommended the book to about 5 of my friends and they all love it too and when we’re at school it’s all we talk about. I love your type of writing its absolutely beautiful. there is all sorts of things about your writing skill that is beautiful and i would need a lot of time and space to bullet point every single reason so I’m not going to list them. I literally could not put it down. Words can’t even begin to describe how much I loved your book and I can not wait for the second book and I heard there was a third which I am absolutely thrilled about. I’ve wanted to become an author since i was a child and I’m hoping one day I could be as good as you (; (although its going to be hard to write at your standard of writing. I’m from New Zealand and i was just wondering if it was coming to New Zealand at a different time or is it also coming in October because i don’t think i would be able to last if it was coming here after October.

    Thanks so much πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

THANK YOU SO MUCH, CALLA!!! I am over the moon that you and your friends loved The Jewel! (Also, your name is gorgeous, I’m so jealous πŸ˜‰ ) I’m pretty sure The White Rose will be released around the same time in New Zealand as it will be in the US–that was how it worked with The Jewel–so yes, you should be able to get your hands on it in October πŸ™‚ I visited New Zealand in 2011 and it is such a beautiful country. I feel so lucky to have my book published there. Thank you so so much for reading and for reaching out to me! And best of luck with your own writing! XO

  51. Estelle says:

Wow! I just finished the book and its summer, but I feel this cold rush. I was in the library when I saw the book, and at first I have to admit I thought it was some pretty little princess book because I liked her dress and I like those books, but it wasn’t at all! Thank you so much for writing. I am going to brace myself Raven’s story, but can’t wait!

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so thrilled you liked it, Estelle!! Hahaha, yes the cover can be a bit deceiving…there’s quite a bit of darkness under all those sparkles. And oh lordy, prepare yourself for Raven’s story. Violet’s life looks easy-peasy compared to Raven! I’m so excited for people to read about it πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me!! XO

  52. JESSICA says:

I found your book by chance and borrowed it from the library!! I couldnt put it down!! Finished it in less than a day.
I cant wait for your next books!! Loved it. thanks!

  53. Emily says:

Oh. My. God. I just finished reading The Jewel, and what a cliffhanger! I can’t wait until October for more from Violet. Such a thrilling story, I could not put it down.

  54. Ember says:

Holy, wow. I love this book! I have a hard time finding books that I really love, and yours has qualified. I couldn’t put it down. So many twists and turns, and the romance with Ash, I love it! I can’t wait until October, but I hope you release a sneak peak of the second book. Why must October be so far away?!

    • AmyEwing says:

Aw, thank you, Ember! I love Ash too πŸ™‚ I think there might be a chapter of TWR released with Raven’s novella, The House of the Stone, in July…and yeah, October, just come already! πŸ™‚

  55. Georgina says:

I loved the Jewel, could not put it down read it straight out took 6 hours. I’ve not had a book I can read like that for so long. Dropping into her world was bliss, sooo excited about the next one will be an early birthday treat just cant wait. The detail is beautiful, please tell me Ash is okay and not going to die his story is so interesting an Lucian’s too. What about Lilly what happened to her an Violets family? You had me on hanging on willing there to be more after the cliff hanger. I have so many questions for the character’s its unbelievable!!! LOVE THIS BOOK SOO MUCH!
    Thank youxx

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Georgina! I know, I really am the worst with that ending, leaving you with so many questions. But I promise the answers are coming! Early birthday present, yay! XO

  56. Ella says:

    Hey Amy!

I’ve tried looking for your book and can’t find it anywhere! I was wondering if it hasn’t come out yet but guess it has!

I can’t wait to read! (if i can find it:)

    • AmyEwing says:

Oh no! Are you talking about The Jewel or The White Rose? The Jewel is out for sure and you should be able to find it at Barnes and Noble. Or if not, then DEFINITELY on Amazon. The White Rose (the second book in the series) is not out until October!

  57. Tasha says:

I just finished your book last night, and i cant describe it other than ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS IVE EVER READ! The book is truly brilliant and it made me feel so many different emotions and there were quite a few plot twists and at the end i cried buckets. I ship both Violet and Ash so hard and they are just perfect. But the best thing was how you made Lucien become a sort of brotherly figure towoards Violet and i love how hw wants to help her and that before the auction he gave her a little bit of freedom by choosing what she wore. I cant wait until october, i wish it would come sooner! ☺

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Tasha!! I’m so excited you liked it! I love Lucien and Violet’s relationship too πŸ™‚ And Ash, obviously! I know, I wish October would just hurry up and get here too. Thank you again so much for reading and reaching out to me! XO

  58. Renee says:

    Hi Amy,
Well done on writing such a captivating story. I bought this book for my daughter, but watching her read it made me curious so I read it myself (she actually hasn’t finished it yet), I must say, I cannot wait to read the next one, nor Raven’s story. My question though is, Raven’s novella…..will it be available ONLY on eBooks or as a real book also? I do not like eBooks, there is nothing like actually holding a book in your hands. I am aware that this is a young adult book, so kudos to you for captivating me, no easy feat, believe me. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks, Renee! I’m so excited you and your daughter like the book! As to your question, yes, unfortunately The House of the Stone will only be available as an ebook. I know, I much prefer hard copies too!

  59. hey amy!
    I loved The Jewel!
    totally inspiring!
i was wondering if there was a way to download House of Stone for free because i cant find any websites and ive got no $$ lol
    cant wait for October!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Jacqui! I’m thrilled you liked The Jewel! The House of the Stone doesn’t come out until July 7, and while there is no way to get it for free, it will only be one or two dollars. Thanks for reading!!

  60. Emily says:

Hi, I cannot wait to read to read your next book! I think that you are an amazing Author and i love Ash! he sounds like such a heartthrob for girls around the Jewel

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Emily! Hahaha, I love Ash too–he’s definitely good with the ladies πŸ˜‰ XO

      • Emily says:

Hi again! thank you for answering! Is Ash in the next book? I forgot to mention how much I love Violet. she is such an interesting character. I feel that i can connect with her feelings so well.

When i first got The Jewel, i read it 3 times in a row because i love it so much. the descriptions are amazing and it is my favourite book!

  61. Hi Amy! I am seriously a huge fan! I have just finished reading the jewel!!!!!! It was amazing!! Everyday when I have spare time, I run to read the book. And at last 1 finished it! It was truly an amazing book! I was so intrigued by it! I can’t wait to read the white rose! Thx so much for writing this book! It was splendid, stupendous…. As you can see I am lost for words at how good the book is! AMAZING!
    Sivitha xx

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so thrilled you liked it, Sivitha! And I can’t wait for The White Rose to be released so you can find out what happens next!! XO

  62. Thanks Amy! The white rose is going to be such a stupendous book!!!

  63. Tori J says:

Oh my goodness!!! After 24 hours of nonstop reading, I finished the Jewel and immediately had to go online to see if a sequel was even mentioned. Now I am so excited for October, and can’t wait to read the next adventure! There were so many parts in this book I had to reread just because they were written so perfectly and that I was feeling what Violet felt. The Jewel was impossible to put down, no joke, and I was so glad I didn’t. It was definitely the book I needed to kick off summer, and can’t wait for fall πŸ˜€

    • AmyEwing says:

Awwww thank you so much, Tori! I’m thrilled you liked it πŸ™‚ Yes, now can October just be here already?? XO

  64. Angel says:

    Hi Amy,
I listen to the audiobook vertion of The Jewel and I love it. I love Violet and Raven and I hope they’ll be fine. I can understand where The duches is coming from, and I’m hoping that she will support Violet And Lucian to change the system. I’m imagining that the countess of the stone will be a more problem on the white rose than the duches. I’m just guessing. haha. And by the way, is The House of The stone will be available as audio too? Or just an ebook. Thanks for a great story and keep writing. πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Angel! What thoughtful comments. I am thrilled you liked The Jewel!! As far as I know, The House of the Stone will not be available on audiobook πŸ™ But thank you so much for reading (or listening) and reaching out to me!

  65. Lily says:

Lol the release date of the second book is my birthday!! Such perfect timing (:
Loved your book, your’e very talented! β™₯

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Lily! I’m thrilled you liked The Jewel. And perfect timing indeed for the release of The White Rose!! XO

  66. Makayla says:

First I want to say good book. Second you are did a good job of keeping the book exciting and interesting, I point this out because I often find some books too predictable thus causing it to become boring. So far I have Blythe had this problem with your books and I want to thank you for that. To help you better understand why I would thank you, let me explain. When I read a book I look for clues (not always consciously either), feelings or actions that foreshadow what will be; because of this I find it difficult to find books that surprise me. You did a great job on your first book and I look forward to read any you write in the future.
There are questions left unanswered from the first book, some will likely be answered in the second. I want to point out that some of the experiences Violet refers to about her time in southgate didn’t get explained and therefore can be confusing.
Lastly, whether you decide to put Violet with Ash or with Garnet or even Raven and Garnet is up to you. Just keep in mind sometimes a little twist (it doesn’t have to be big) in a story can make a big difference. For example, when Violet saved Raven.
Thank you for reading and good luck.

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks, Makayla! I’m so glad you liked The Jewel and found it to be fresh and surprising! Don’t worry, there will be many questions answered in the second book πŸ™‚ Thank you for reading!! XO

  67. kali says:

Hello Amy Ewing, I’m french and I love Jewel which titled Le Joyau in France. Do you have an idea of the date when The House of Stone and The White Rose come out in french bookshop? Thanks!
(And sorry for my english… I don’t speak english very well…)

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Kali! I’m so happy you liked The Jewel! As for release dates, I don’t know exactly when those books will be released in France πŸ™ Hopefully around the same time as the US release!

(Pas de problem, ton anglais est tres bien! Beaucoup mieux que mon francais πŸ™‚ )

  68. Shanice says:

HOLA AMY! I bought The Jewel last year and decided to read it 2 night ago and just finished it this morning! I love your book and the characters so much, despite the cliffhanger that’s killing me right now hahhaha I searched up your name to see what you are doing about the second book and I was so excited when you said it was coming out in October! ((: Please keep writing! xxxx

    • Shanice says:

Btw, will the US release for The White Rose come out at the same time for Australia? Thanks! XX

      • AmyEwing says:

  69. Pauline Van Dijk says:

  71. Kat says:

Oh my god!!!!!! I was totally emersed in your book when I finally got to the end I was like “what!! That’s it!” Totally loved Violet too she was really brave and willing to give her chance at a new better life to her friend Raven. That is exactly the kind of person I want to be. I use books as an escape code to go to another world of bravery, love, triumph life Vs. Death type of things and I honestly just thought this was the perfect little world that you created. I will never know how you authors do such an amazing job. Keep going with writing these books and many more to come I hope, by the way congrats on the success of the first book I was reading some other comments and they all seemed to love it too. P.S. I love Ash! Go team Ash all the way!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Kat! I use books as an escape to other worlds too πŸ™‚ I’m so thrilled you connected with Violet and I hope you keep feeling that over the course of the trilogy! PS I love Ash too πŸ˜‰

  72. Wheng says:

I just finished reading the first book and I can’t wait for TWR.. .I hope I can read more about Garnet in TWR. Good Job Ms. Amy!

  75. Claire says:

I am so excited about your new book! I read the jewel a few months ago but I forgot what happens in the end…. Can someone summarize it for me? Thx

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks Claire! There must be a summary somewhere on the interwebs… πŸ™‚

      • Janet says:

I’ve read the book for 3 days ignoring my homeworks and other school stuffs, because YES, The Jewel is GREAT πŸ™‚ And im excited about Garnet and Ash. Thanks Miss Amy for such a great story πŸ™‚

        • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much Janet! I hope you got your homework done eventually! I know how a good book can make you forget everything else, and I’m thrilled you felt that way about The Jewel πŸ™‚

  76. Mandy says:

When and where are you going on tour because I would love to meet you!?

    • AmyEwing says:

  78. BIG T says:

    PLEASE COME TO AUSTRALIA!!

  79. Iana Edrianne says:

    Hi Amy!
I just wanna say, I TOTALLY ADORED YOUR BOOK! I was skeptical of it at first, since the cover and the premise had quite a resemblance to Kiera Cass’s the Selection Series which I also loved as well and I thought that it would be another cheesy remake. But when I did end up purchasing it and eventually finishing it, I couldn’t help regretting my misconceptions of it! Certainly it has some similarities with the Selection, but it offers a darker and more mature storyline that I instantly got hooked with. It made me realize again NEVER to judge a book by it’s cover, literally. Anyway, I’m now a huge fan of yours and I hope you’ll continue writing books with such depth and creativity. That cliffhanger though just made me internally scream “Wth?” and as of now I’m eagerly yet impatiently awaiting the release of the White Rose. More power to you and keep up the good work! πŸ™‚

PS. Do you think you’ll have book signings here in the Philippines? Because if you will I’ll totally come! πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks, Iana! I’m so excited you liked The Jewel! It’s true, you can never judge what’s inside a book based on the outside. I would love to come to the Philippines, and if I ever do a signing I’ll certainly announce it! XO

      • Iana Edrianne says:

Oh my gosh! That would be so cool Amy! Thanks a lot. I’m now counting the days until I can purchase the White Rose. Until then I’ll just keep on dreaming about Garnet. Sigh. πŸ™‚

  80. kiwi says:

Wow, i was totally suprised. I LOVE THE JEWEL and i already preordered The white rose. The jewel is so good!
I WANT IT TO BE GARNET IN THE END. I love him so much and i think Ash is just hormones. I’m sorry, but i don’t like Ash :/ And the meaning of Garnets name… i read many times that it stands for stability, truth and loyalty. And i associate the name of Ash with destruction.
And i love the Duchess of the Lake! I hate to hate her and i hate to love her!
    Greetings from germany!

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you liked it! I did not know that about the meaning of Garnet’s name–I chose it because it is a gemstone and all royals are named after gemstones. But I love it! (And I hate to love and hate to hate the Duchess too!) XO

    • Iana Edrianne says:

Oh my gosh! I totally get how you feel. I was team GarLet (Garnet and Violet) from the start. I hope they get together in the end. I was also surprised about the meaning of his name. Now I’m definitely rooting for him! πŸ™‚

  81. alex m says:

Can I just tell you that this is one of the best books I’ve ever read! The first time I read the jewel was in April and everything since then I can’t stop thinking about when the next book will come. This will proably sound cheesy but usually I don’t like reading but this book got me going. I enjoy reading now because of your book! I’m so excited for your next book. I’ve already pre-order your second book!!

  82. alex m says:

Hey Amy!! Can I just say that this is proably the best book I’ve ever read! I didn’t really enjoy reading until I read this book! I love this book and am counting down the days till the next book! I love your writing and hope you contine to keep writing. And will you ever be visiting Naperville Illinois?!?!?

  83. alex m says:

Oh sorry I wrote 2 it said that it didn’t post the first one so I wrote another one. Sorry they say like the same things

    • AmyEwing says:

No worries, Alex, I’m just so happy you liked The Jewel! Especially since you’re not a big reader–hurray! I’m so busy working on the third book I have no travel plans at the moment πŸ™ But I hope you like The White Rose! XO

  84. Ella says:

I love the jewel soooooo much!!! I just finished reading it and it’s one of my most favorite books ever!!! I can’t wait for October so I can read the white rose!!!!!!!!

  85. Ania says:

    Hi Amy,
I am super stoked to read ‘The White Rose’, only a month to go! I’m about to re read The Jewel and then The House of Stone! Thank you so much for these books as they have inspired me in my writing and helped me through tough times. I would just sit The Jewel, and it would feel like I was there! Thanks again for this great series!
    xx ania

    • AmyEwing says:

Ania, I am so pleased to hear that! As a reader, I know how important books are when life is getting you down, and I am honored that The Jewel is in that category for you. Thank you thank you thank you! I hope you like The White Rose! XO

  86. Sarah says:

I suddenly remembered this book and how much I loved it. I checked here and was disappointed when the sequel wasn’t available yet. But, then I remembered that it is due out on my birthday! I’m so excited…it will be a birthday gift to myself. πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to find out what happens…almost here! I’m going to be rereading it so I’m prepared. This series also inspired me to read The Handmaid’s Tale, which has become a favorite!

    • AmyEwing says:

Oooooh, what a lovely birthday present! πŸ˜‰ I can tell you that The White Rose picks up right where The Jewel left off, so a reread is an awesome idea!

You know, I’ve never read The Handmaid’s Tale. Crazy, right? It’s on my TBR. I’m glad you liked it!

      XO

  87. Sofia says:

I love the book so much! I have two questions:
    1. Will the Lone City Novella(house of the stone) be translated in German?
    2. Will The White Rose be translated in German?

If the answer is Yes, then when is this going to be???

    Thank you xxx

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Sofia! I’m thrilled you liked The Jewel! To answer your questions:

      1. I don’t know! I’m not sure if the novella is being translated.
      2. Yes! I don’t know the exact pub date but I imagine it will be sometime next year, around the the same time The Jewel came out this year.

      XO

  88. Katie says:

I just finished reading The Jewel for the second or third time, and every time I finish reading it, I have the same opinion: it’s so good, but the ending killed me. I really hope Violet and Ash end up together. I want Annabelle and Garnet to end up together because I think they would be so freaking cute, but that may just be me. Also, I don’t know if you get this a lot, but I loved the Duchess’s character. She was really manipulative, and guarded, and cruel, but she was also, in her own way, loving, and motherly, and hopeful, and I don’t know if I like HER, but I absolutely adored her character because it had so many layers. Finally, you are such a talented writer and my friends (whom of which I recommended the book to and they loved it almost as much as I did) can’t wait for White Rose to come out! Thank you for writing such an amazing book!!!
    -Katie

    • AmyEwing says:

Wow, thank you, Katie!! You know, I love the Duchess too, for those very same reasons you named. She’s not just one thing, and I really like writing characters like that. And don’t worry, there is a whole camp for Garnet Annabelle shippers!

I hope you and your friends like The White Rose! Thank you so much for reaching out to me πŸ™‚

      XO

  89. Abby Thomson says:

    Hi Amy!
I love your books btw and couldn’t stop reading the Jewel and the house of stone! I love that Ash and Violet got together hehe! But the Countess of Stone is a real piece of work right?!?!?
Just found out that the white rose does not come out until October!! I can’t wait!!!!!
When will Untitled be coming out may I ask!!!
Hope you can get back to me ASAP.
    LOVE YOU!!!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Abby! I’m so excited you liked The Jewel and The House of the Stone! Oh yeah, the Countess is one of the only characters in the this series that I hate unconditionally–her and Frederic. I know, it’s a wait for The White Rose, but October is practically here already! I don’t have a publication date for Book 3 yet but I just turned in the most recent draft to my editor and I’m soooooooo excited for it πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for reaching out to me! XO

  90. Mikala says:

Hi my name is Mikala, and I was wondering if there was going to be a third book of this series? My friends and I have waited over a year for The White Rose to be published and we didn’t realize that a book in Raven’s POV was being published! My friends and I have also made a group chat on our phones basically just talking about your books! It would mean so much to us if you answered our questions! We really hope there is going to be a third book!
    Thank you! πŸ™‚

    • Mikala says:

Oh! Sorry i just read some of the comments above and realized that the third book is the real thing and will be published! AGGGHH I’m so excited! My mum just yelled at me for squealing late at night! ooopps! I have some more questions from me and my friends. What made you think of the idea for this series because it is so different and unlike anything I have ever read?! And how long does the writing process take?
      Thanks again! πŸ™‚

      • Mikala says:

I just finished The White Rose and it is incredible but , I have to admit the ending is killing me and I absolutely need the second book to come out like right now! This series is absolutely amazing! AGHHHHHHH I wish I was you because you already know the ending! This is killing me not know knowing how this is going to go! Thank you for an incredible series!

        • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Mikala! I’m so excited that you and your friends like The Jewel!! I know, now it’s a wait for the third book but I PROMISE that one won’t end on a cliffhanger πŸ˜‰ As for your questions, I wrote a whole blog post about the inspiration behind the book here:

          http://www.epicreads.com/blog/cover-reveal-the-jewel-by-amy-ewing/

And the book from first draft to final, publishable copy took about two years. Writing takes a loooooong time!

  91. shreya says:

i loved the jewel so much and i even suggested the book to some of my friends. i am eagerly waiting for the next one to release…..when are you planning to write the third part and what will it be about? the book is so adicting and just felt like violet in some parts…..im a big fan!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you liked The Jewel, Shreya! I hope you enjoy The White Rose as well! The third book has been written and is in the process of being revised, so we shall see how long that takes. Writing books takes a lot of patience!

  92. Lyndsay says:

    Dear Amy,

My name is Lyndsay and I’m 15. I absolutely loved reading your first edition to The Jewel series, I was captivated! I received the novel for Christmas last year and within two days of reading had finished it. You could say I was a little obsessed. Haha!! What a magnificent novel, I just wanted to say thank you so much!! Whenever I read a book I feel as if I have been transported to another place, but The Jewel did this amazingly. I especially loved the ending to the book, it had me on the edge of my seat! Such beautiful writing!!

P.S. I also had a question as to whether the sequel will be available in Australian stores soon? Thank you and can’t wait!!

    Lyndsay XO

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much for you kind words, Lyndsay! Wow. What a lovely way to start this dreary Wednesday. I love it when books transport me to other places and I’m thrilled you felt that way about The Jewel! And to answer your question, the second book is ALREADY OUT in Australia! YAY! You should definitely be able to get a copy. I hope you like it! XOXO

  93. Mantys says:

So I thought I’d check out the iStore for your second novel and by 9am this morning was falling back in love with those characters you introduced in your debut novel. And yes, my reaction when I realised I was at the end was exactly the same when I reached the end of book 1 – I didn’t see it happening.
Superb writing style, excellent characterisations that just continue to grow on me, you have that ability of the story teller to keep your audience wrapt until the very last word, and having them wanting more.
So I realise how stupid this is to ask, but ask I will anyway – when do we see book 3??

Thankyou once again, Ms Ewing πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Awwww, thank you so much!! So lovely to hear from you again! Haha, I know, I do love those cliffhangers. I promise the third book will not end on one! πŸ˜‰ As far as a release date, I don’t even know myself, but hopefully next fall. And I’ll definitely be announcing the date when I have it! XO

  94. Jose says:

Hello, I really enjoyed the book and con not wait to read the second one, (and the novella). I was just wondering though, how long do it take you to write? What did you want the readers if the book to gain and why did you base it around surrogates / from the surrogates perspective? Not the royals?
    Thank you very much
    Jose

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so thrilled you liked The Jewel, Jose! I hope you like Raven’s novella and The White Rose too πŸ™‚ As for your questions, The Jewel took a little over two years from first draft to publishable manuscript. Writing takes a looooong time. I wanted readers to come out of reading this book with an appreciation for how important it is to have ownership over your own body. It is a fundamental right that I strongly believe in, and since the surrogates are the ones with those rights taken away (as are the companions) I chose to write from their perspective. Hope this is helpful! Thank you so much for reading!

  95. Emily says:

Hi, i bought The White Rose yesterday and read all of it in around 3 hours! i loved it sooo much!!!!! I’m wondering if there will be another book because i LOVED it soooo much, i love Ash still and it was so nice to see a bit more about him and his past, also i liked that Garnet was in it a bit more. p.s i think i am a bit in love with Ash!! x

  96. marina says:

Hi there so I finished reading your book and loved it especially when Violet plays the cello so I wanted to know if you by any chance play the cello .I do and know how beautiful it is . If you don’t play then I would love to know what your inspiration was.

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Marina! I’m so glad you liked The Jewel! I did play the cello when I was a child, from about the age of ten to twelve. It is such a beautiful instrument I had to put it in the book. Though Violet plays far better than I ever did!

  97. Marianna says:

I just finished the first book 5 minutes ago. Immediately after finishing it i rushed to the computer to see if there was a second one, i can’t wait to read it! You have an AMAZING writing style. I’m incredibly picky about the books i read, and I definitely judge a book by its cover (who doesn’t) and the cover itself is intriguing. Can’t wait for the second book!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Marianna! I know, I got so lucky with those covers, they are just gorgeous πŸ™‚ I hope you like The White Rose!

  98. Christan says:

Like Emily, I read The White Rose is about 3 hours! Love it and can’t wait to see where the story goes! I was wondering if you have considered writing a book about the Duchess of the Lake? I would love to hear her story and find out what truly happened between her and the Exetor and the reason she is the way she is. Thank you for your hard work on these books. Even though I am dying to find out what happens next I know it takes a long time for these awesome books!

    • AmyEwing says:

Aw, thank you Christan! Books do take a loooooong time. But worth it πŸ™‚ I have thought about writing about the Duchess–lots of stuff happened to her when she was 16, it could be like a prequel–though NOTHING is happening on that front except in my imagination. But as for what happened between her and the Exetor…well, remember there is a whole other book left! Perhaps it will be revealed in there… πŸ˜‰

  99. Krystal says:

Hello Amy, I’ve just finished the Jewel, and had to find out when the second one is out, the only issue I have. Is will it be available in Australia, and a possible date? Or can I purchase The book online and have it shipped ?
I am in awe of your writing, I love it and I can’t wait to hear more about the story, I cannot wait to hear from you!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Crystal! The White Rose is already out in Australia. So yay! It was released Oct 1, I believe. I’m so glad you liked The Jewel, I hope you like the next book too!

  100. Stephanie says:

Just finished reading The White Rose and wow! It was absolutely amazing! And the ending?! Oh my goodness… Please please tell me you’re in the works of a 3rd book?! I have to know what happens to everyone πŸ™‚ oh also seriously crushing on Ash! πŸ˜‰

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Stephanie! I know, I love the cliffhangers πŸ™‚ The third book is currently being revised and will hopefully be out next fall. I have such a crush on Ash too! XOXO

  101. Shani_Rose says:

Hey I just read the first book in 2 and a half hours and I looooved it and i was so excited when I found out the next book is already and out and I can’t wait to buy it and read it

    • AmyEwing says:

Oh wow, so fast! And lucky you, you can move right on the The White Rose! YAY! I hope you like it πŸ™‚

  102. Kylie says:

I just finished the White Rose! I couldn’t put it down, I don’t think I can wait for the next one to come out! Ahhh I need to know what happens next! Both books were amazing, I love your work and can’t wait to see what surprises are coming next! 3rd book come soon!

  103. Jasmine says:

    Hi amy!
my name is jasmine and i finished the jewel in literally 1 hour! i loved it! it reminded me of the selection series. just wondering, did you ever happen to meet the author of the selection kiera cass? if so that would be my dream come true! my two favorite authors of all time being friends! that would be amazing. if not have you heard of her books? do you have a favorite author? i love reading its my favorite thing to do in the whole wide world especially a book as good as the selection and the jewel! i hope the white rose is just as amazing as the first book! i just finished the house of stone today and it was really interesting, reading the book from someone else’s point of view. btw i think it would be awesome if you made another novella from lucien’s point of view or even the duchess or her son.
from, jasmine herri turned 12 years old september 10

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Jasmine! I’m so thrilled you liked The Jewel! I have never met Kiera Cass, but I have read The Selection. My favorite author would have to be Roald Dahl, because I fell in love with his books when I was young and I think he has the most wonderful and twisted imagination. There will be another novella, from Garnet’s perspective, which I’m super excited about πŸ™‚ I hope you like The White Rose! XO

      • Jasmine says:

        hi amy,
my cousin Nathania also read the jewel (under my recommendation) and she loved it! we r both really excited about the white rose! i’m itching to get my hands on it! im really close to getting it at the library! so excited! its awesome that you read the selection. did you like it? are you on team aspen or maxon? ( im on team maxon)
        from, Jasmine

  104. Amanda says:

Hi Amy! I just want to thank you so much for writing these amazing books. I’m from Brazil and I’m a Film Production masters student at LMU in Los Angeles. I would LOVE to see your books turn into movies. Even though books are always better than the films πŸ˜‰ I just finished reading the White Rose (like 5 minutes ago) and it was amazing. I love all the new characters and I specially love their names. Now all of my roommates are also addicted to your books πŸ™‚ We can’t wait to read the third one! (btw, if you ever decide to turn your books into films I would love to be a part of it) Thank you again! xxx <3 Amanda Abicalaffe

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Amanda! I’m so excited you’re liking the series! OMG I would looooove to see these books turned into movies–the balls and dresses and palaces, ah… No plans for that at the moment, alas. But I will always hold out hope πŸ™‚ Thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me!

  105. Hi, amy.. I’ve read your books and it was really awesome.. I cant wait for the third book, it was pretty exciting!! When is the released of the 3rd book again? :3

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much Hannah! There is no official release date for the third book yet, though hopefully sometime next fall. And I’ll be announcing as soon as I know!

      • Gabby says:

Hi, I’m from Australia I love
Your books but when you say “next fall” does that mean next year around Christmas?

  106. Cailey says:

Hi Amy! I just finished The White Rose, mans I know it basically just came out, but have you started the next one? The cliffhanger is bugging me! Sorry to bother!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Cailey! I know, I do love my cliffhangers. The third book is in the revision process at the moment, so it’s written, just not quite ready πŸ™‚ It should be out next fall!

  107. Hannah says:

Ahhh! I literally just finished The White Rose and I already know that you’re writing a third book and I just have to know what happens next! Do you already have plans for the next book? I mean, what a cliffhanger!

  108. Maria says:

Finished the second book !! it was amazing, I love it !! hanging for the next one !! cannot waittt !!!

  109. Chelsea says:

Hi, Ms. Ewing (sorry for the formality but I feel as though you deserve that kind of honour and respect :3 ). I just finished reading The White Rose and obviously, I loved it!!!! Cannot wait for the third book and to see how it is even possible to top such a beautiful cover (they’re amazing!!!) My only issue is that implication that Garnet may like/ end up with Raven. I love Raven but I ship Violet and Garnet so hard. Besides that though, I am just in love with your work and imagination. It blows my mind. πŸ™‚ <3

    * Side note: Do you think there's any chance that this trilogy could become a series of maybe four books? I know sometimes that happens, and I honestly am not prepared for this book to end, especially if Garnet and Violet don't end up together! πŸ™

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Chelsea! I’m so thrilled you liked The White Rose! I have seen the cover for book 3 and I think it is my favorite of them all–I feel so lucky to have such a talented design team working on these books. As far as the romance, you’ll just have to keep reading to find out πŸ˜‰ And it will just be three books! That’s just the right amount for me to tell this story. But I know, I don’t want it to be over either! xo

  110. Sara says:

Hi my name is Sara I stumbled across your first book the jewel when my daughter bought it home from school and was fascinated couldn’t wait for the second book which I have just finished reading can I just say wow these books are great I couldn’t put them down and cannot wait for the third one if it’s anything like the last 2 I’m sure it will be amazing x

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Sara! Oh, I’m so excited you’re liking the series so far! The third one is in final revisions at the moment–eep! Thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me πŸ™‚

  111. Jhea says:

Well, i have to say, what an amazing book. It’s interesting and unpredictable. And im dying to read the third book. When will it be released? Imean, i finished The Jewel and The White Rose whit in two days! I coudn’t stop myself from reading! And the ending of The White Rose is killing me! My only question is, wWhen will the third book be released? πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Jhea! The third book will be out sometime next fall–I don’t know the official date yet. But I’m thrilled you’re liking the series so far!

  112. Elizabeth says:

I loved the first two books!!! My friend got me hooked on this series so we can wait on the third book together. Im curious to when the third book will come out!!! So excited!!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Oh, how fun, Elizabeth! I love sharing books with my friends too πŸ™‚ The third book will be out next fall, and I can’t wait for it to be released already! xoxo

  113. Aisyah Rahmadani says:

Amy ewing i love your books especially The Jewel. When will the white rose be coming in Indonesia?

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you, Aisyah! I’m not sure when The White Rose will be out in Indonesia… πŸ™ But I hope you can read it soon! xo

  114. Claire says:

I read The White Rose and I do have to say that I absolutely loved it! You may be able to tell, but earlier in the comments I asked for writing advice. I do want to thank you for that, because it has changed my perspective on how I write. Thank you so much!

    • AmyEwing says:

That’s so great to hear, Claire! And I’m thrilled you liked The White Rose πŸ™‚ Good luck again with your writing!

  115. Mia says:

I was absolutely blown away by The Jewel, and The White Rose had me hooked until the very, very, very unexpected end, at which point I screamed in frustration! Hanging on until the next one! <3 Amazing work!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hahaha, Mia, that is exactly the reaction I hope for, so I’m super happy to hear that! Thrilled you are liking the series so far. Thank you for reading!! xo

  116. Kyla says:

    Hi Ms. Amy,

I walked through Barnes and Noble on Friday, and immediately was draw to your The Jewel. I sat down and read the first few pages and I was so intrigued, that I bought The Jewel and The White Rose. Within 2 days I have read both! I greatly admire your writing and hope to see more in the future. I don’t have a very long list of writers that I truly enjoy (and will re-read their book a few times), but now I have added your name! Thank you for sharing your gift of writing and creativity with us!

    Yours Truly,
    Kyla

p.s. Looking Forward to the 3rd book!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Kyla! I’m so thrilled you are liking the series so far. I hope you like the third book too! xo

  117. Moisa says:

Ok, so first things first! I love this series! I literally just read The White Rose in 4 hours! Anyway my burning question is… WHEN IS THE NEXT BOOK COMING OUT?!

I love the characters and the way you tell your story and now I’m anxiously waiting for the next one!

    • AmyEwing says:

Four hours, wow!! The next book will be out next fall (Sept/Oct). Which feels like soooo far away. But I’m thrilled you like the characters! Sometimes it’s scary to share my imaginary friends with the world, it’s always nice to hear when other people like them as much as I do πŸ™‚

  118. Megan says:

I have to say that this is by far my absolute favorite book! I fell in love with all the characters (especially Ash Lockwood). I read The Jewel and The White rose in one day! I just couldn’t put it down! I know you are writing a third book, which I can’t wait to read! My question is, do you have the title for the third book yet? Thank you so much for your time! πŸ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

I love Ash too, Megan!! So thrilled you like the series so far. There IS a title for the third book (and I’ve seen a cover mockup as well), but I’m not allowed to share them yet. Grrrr! I hate keeping secrets. But it should be revealed soon!! Thank you so much for reading! xo

  119. Sydney says:

I love the white rose and can’t wait until the third book come out. This book make me want to teleport to the future to read the next book so I dont have to wait anymore for the third book.

  120. Louisa says:

Dearest Amy, i stumbled upon The Jewel last summer and fell in love with the idea of the Lone City and everything you wrote! I live in Indonesia and unfortunately it wasnt easy finding the next book. I was impatient and I just got The White Rose shipped all the way from America yesterday and I finished it already. Soo curious for the next book, I love you tons!!
Next fall would seem like forever πŸ™
I wish to be an author just like you
*I hope Ash stays with Violet and I can tell there’s sth going on w Garnet and Raven already so eeepp!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Louisa! I’m so thrilled you’re liking the series! And wow, that’s a long way for The White Rose to travel. I’m so relieved you liked it πŸ™‚ Good luck with your own writing!! xo

  121. Carrie says:

I discovered your books the other day in the bookstore- i read The Jewel in a day and ran back to buy The White Rose! I couldn’t put them down! Now I’m going to have to be patient until the third book is released, haha! I’ll be checking back here for updates often πŸ™‚
Thank you for such an amazing story! β™‘

    • AmyEwing says:

Oh wow, Carrie, that’s amazing! I’m thrilled you’re liking the series! I know, now the waiting begins…the worst part about trilogies πŸ˜‰

  122. Bailey says:

I really love The Jewel, I bought it on a whim as an audiobook, curious to try the format out and I fell in love. It was simply gripping and I would listen for as long as possible whenever I had the opportunity. I was recommending it to my friends before I had even reached the end! I simply fell in love with everything about it, I’ve read 23 books in the past two months but this is definitely in the top 3!
I’ve noticed that The White Rose has also been published as an audiobook, but isn’t available for purchase in Canada, is there any chance that it will be anytime in the future? Just trying to decide if I should hold out on it being released as an audiobook instead of buying it on my kindle.

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Bailey! I’m so excited you liked it! You know, someone else mentioned to me that the TWR audiobook isn’t available in Canada and it makes no sense to me. As far as I am aware, it should be available for purchase! I’ll look into it…we need to make sure you can get The White Rose! πŸ™‚

  123. Emma says:

Thank you so much Amy for writing the Lone City trilogy! I can’t keep out of the books. I just about finished the Jewl and White Rose and am planning on re-reading. I loved how the books have me a feel of like I couldn’t miss what was coming next. There was always something in the books keeping you so interested. I find your books very similar to Cass’s selection series and your books are by far my favorite. Can’t wait for the next book! And is there a possibility that Raven and Garnet will end up together? And is there a possibility of a Movie for the Jewl?
Anyways can’t wait for the plans in store for your books. You are truly an amazing author and it’s hard for me to find a book as good as the Jewl these days!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Emma! Wow, I’m super excited you are liking the series so far πŸ™‚ As to Raven and Garnet, well, you’ll have to read the third book to find out! (I’m an Evil Author, I know…) I would LOVE to see The Jewel as a movie (the dresses! the palaces!) I do have a film agent, though there are no current plans to adapt at the moment. But hopefully some day! Thank you again for reading and for reaching out to me! xo

  124. Amanda says:

I discovered The Jewel on my Kindle & immediately fell in love with these characters! I quickly read the 1st book and moved to The White Rose & then saw the novella was available so I read that too…..
I was looking to see if I could find anything on the next book in the series but so far I haven’t discovered anything:( Please tell me that you’re writing a 3rd book???? And if so, when will I be able to purchase it????

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so excited that you’re liking the series so far, Amanda! The third book will be out this fall, sometime in October (not sure of the exact date yet). But it is definitely DONE (or in the very final stages of polishing) so never fear! And thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me! xo

  125. Destiny says:

Hello!! I love the White Rose!! It is so exciting and original!! But now that I have read White Rose I am dying from suspense!! When is the third book of this series coming out!!! What are the title ideas you are thinking of? When is the publishing date!! Please fill me in!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Destiny! I’m so glad you’re liking the series! The third book is called THE BLACK KEY and will be out sometime in October. I know, I really leave you hanging at the end of TWR. So hopefully October will be here soon! πŸ˜‰ xo

  126. Pappy says:

Hello, I am obsessed with your books and was wondering when or if a third book will come out in the Jewel series.

    • AmyEwing says:

There will DEFINITELY be a third book–I would never be so cruel as to leave the story hanging where I did. Book three will be out sometime in October (no official date yet). I’m so thrilled you’re liking the series so far! Thank you for reading!! xo

  127. Eadlyn says:

Hi Amy!!! I’m a huge fan of the Jewel. I first read the Jewel and completely fell in love with it. And the White Rose just made it so much deeper. I was wondering when the third book will be out because the ending to the White Rose is heart wrenching that I just can’t wait to know what happens next.

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Eadlyn! I’m so excited to hear you’re enjoying the series! The third book will be out sometime in October, which feels soooo far away πŸ™ But it’s done and it’s coming and soon you will have all the answers, I promise! Thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me! xo

  128. Kaitlin says:

Thank you so much for writing these AMAZING books!! I can honestly say I have never read 2 books so fast (it was like 4 days)! I wish I would’ve savored them a little bit longer because now I have to wait what will seem like forever for the final book to come out! Once again, you have written amazing books and thank you for that!

    • AmyEwing says:

Wow, that was some fast reading, Kaitlin! I’m so thrilled you’re enjoying the series so far πŸ™‚ The third book will be out in October–why must trilogies take so long?? xo

  129. Faith says:

I also was wondering when are you going to go on another ‘tour’ so to speak? I looked at your events and I missed the Michigan visit πŸ™ Just wondering if you will be coming back to Michigan or going on another tour, maybe after the 3rd book comes out?

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Faith! I’m thrilled you liked The Jewel!! And Ash’s story too–I was so happy I got to give him his own little story, since so much of what we see of him is how he presents himself to Violet. As for tours, I was lucky to be asked in 2014, but have heard nothing about any more dates for the future πŸ™ Tours are pricey and there are lots of authors and little space on them, so I don’t know if my publisher will be sending me on one for the third book. But if they do, I will definitely be posting the dates and locations here! Thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me! xo

  130. Ava says:

Hey Ms. Ewing! I’m an avid 13 year old reader and I’m always searching for a new series to captivate me- to send me to another world (if you know what I mean!) The Jewel Series did just that! I absolutely love how you were able to form each character and their personalities. So much so, that I finished the first two books within two days, hahaha! You are such an inspiration for me, as I would someday like to become a writer, and I just wanted to say thank you! (I was also wondering if you and your publisher have released a date for your third book?) Xoxo~ Ava

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Ava! How wonderful to hear that you were so drawn in by the characters–I love them all like they are real people (authors are strange, haha). The third book is called The Black Key and will be out in October! Thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me. And best of luck to you with your own writing!! xo

  131. Rebecca says:

These books are indescribable, once I had started reading I couldn’t put them down. I am so excited for the next book :). When is it going to come out? I hope it’s a long book as I always have this feeling of never wanting the book to end if I love the plot. I forgot to mention the fact that you’re an AMAZING author and I hope you continue to write other books.

    • Rebecca says:

Oh and I forgot to say two things, one does Garnet and Raven get together as want them too and that I REALLY wish that in the future you adapt the trilogy into film as everyone will love them. The dresses the palaces the auction the Jewel itself everything.

      • AmyEwing says:

        1. You’ll have to wait and see! πŸ˜‰

        2. AGREE. I would absolutely love to see those dresses on film. Maybe some day!

    • AmyEwing says:

Aw, I agree with you on the never wanting a book to end if I love it! And I’m so excited you’re enjoying the series πŸ™‚ The third book is called The Black Key and will be out in October!

  132. Ava says:

P.S. THAT ENDING! How could you be so cruel? Just kidding, but how could you end The White Rose on such a huge cliffhanger? Now your anxious readers (me) will have to wait for almost a year for answers to our (my) endless questions and concerns? Nooooooooo!

    • AmyEwing says:

I know, it is so mean of me to leave poor Hazel hanging like that! I am addicted to cliffhangers, what can I say?

  133. Kristelle says:

Hi Amy! Just finished reading The Jewel yesterday my friend recommended me your novel and I must say that The Jewel is really heart stopping. • AmyEwing says:

    Hi Amy!

First of all i would like to thank you for writing the Jewel book. the first 10 pages i absolutely adored. i rarely read books and I’m always on my phone (unfortunately) however, my wifi wasn’t working for a couple of days so i went to the library and saw your book (one with purple dress) and it completely caught my eye! after reading this i was soo happy it wasn’t finished when i read the last line. however i wanted to buy all three of the books though i can’t find it anywhere! even the library doesn’t have it. i got a bit upset but my hopes are still up! πŸ˜‰ thanks for being alive and writing the books!!!! • AmyEwing says:

Hi Marya! I’m super thrilled to hear this series got you into reading! The cover is so eye catching, right? I was very lucky to have such an amazing design team working on these books. • AmyEwing says:

Hi Erin! Oh I would love to have all those little stories be published in book form. As of yet, there are no plans in the works to do so πŸ™ But the cover of The Black Key is going to be revealed VERY SOON so keep an eye on my Twitter/FB/Instagram pages! It’s my favorite of the three covers πŸ™‚
