Amy Ewing | Hi and welcome to my brand new website and author blog!

Hi and welcome to my brand new website and author blog!

Amy EwingThis is where you can find all my thoughts on writing, publishing, books Iโ€™m reading, cheese, and hot fictional boys.

Iโ€™m currently about to start revisions on THE JEWEL #2 (which will have a better title, I promise) and am also excited to be working on a novella from a secondary characterโ€™s perspective, to be released between THE JEWEL and the second book. My lips are sealed on which character, but stay tuned here for more details as they come!

    Hello :),
I would like to know what you do or really what is the best way to deal with writers block. I have been writing my first novel for a year and a half now (in between college classes) and i keep getting stuck when trying to “fill thing in” with the transition chapters in between the action and what not, and it is driving me crazy because i cant get anything done! Also how do you go about writing the sort of romantic parts? For example, how do you know if your characters relationship is developing to fast or to slow? Sorry for dumping a load of questions on you!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Alanna! I think the best thing to do is just keep moving forward in the story. Even if you write something you think you’ll cut later, that’s ok. Just move forward. I always try to set myself a goal of 1000 words per day. In terms of setting up a romance, sometimes in early drafts things will happen too quickly but you can always go back and smooth it out later. I definitely recommend finding some good critique partners who can help you pinpoint when it’s moving too fast or too slow. Best of luck with the writing!

  2. Hi!!

I recently found your book and I’m so excited to read it!
I wrote something about it on my blog (http://melissa-reads-books.blogspot.be/2014/09/recent-release-1-jewel-by-amy-ewing.html) to make sure everyone knows about it ๐Ÿ˜€

Good luck writing and with your official blog!! I will definitely check it often ๐Ÿ˜‰

    xo, Melissa

  3. Chelsey says:

Hi. I just finished reading your book “The Jewel” after 2 days of not being able to put it down! It is spectacular and I am desperate for the next book! May I ask when you believe it is going to be released? I just need to know what happens. ( Funny as I read the end of the last chapter I went right into reading the acknowledgements without knowing that it was the end of the book) ๐Ÿ˜›
    Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so thrilled you liked The Jewel! Hahaha, I know, that ending is quite a shocker. The next book is currently slated for Sept 2015, and I will definitely be announcing the date when it’s official!

      • Chelsey says:

        Ok thank you so much!!

      • Leslie stock says:

Hello my name is Leslie and I’m thirteen and Omg noooooooooooooo I just finished it and I may die! Why do you authors do cliff hangers? I don’t get it! Ugh the book is so good!

        • Leslie stock says:

Oh and what time period is this I picture it being in like a future it’s past, if that makes sense

        • AmyEwing says:

Hi Leslie! I’m so glad you liked The Jewel!! I know, that ending is so mean, but the second book is coming ๐Ÿ™‚ As for time period, it isn’t set in our world, so I can’t say it’s in the future. It’s its own thing! But in terms of the aesthetics (the dresses, the style, etc), I based it on turn of the twentieth century. Think season one of Downton Abbey, or Titanic. Thanks for reading and reaching out!
          XO

    • Ella says:

it’s out… and is called the white rose soo good i need the third!!!

  4. Alice Lasting says:

    Oh god, I’m kind of nervous… :-/

I just want to say: I’m am like the definition of slow reader, and there have only been two other (substantial size) books that I have finished in two days, and thats like me reading 24/7! Pure dedication!

It was so strange, because as I was reading the book, there were so many plot lines that it felt like it was going slowly, when there was never a dead moment… probably doesn’t make any sense.

Anyway, I just want to ask a few questions:

Did you get the ‘doing magic thing then nose bleed’ from the vampire diaries?

What happened to Lily, or will it be revealed in the sequel?

And this is actually a question, but your probably gonna hate me for saying it – I don’t wanna be harsh or anything, but I kinda want Ash to die, ‘cos I’m team Garnet! (that sounds weird..team garnet)

    • AmyEwing says:

Wow, I’m so glad you liked The Jewel! And read it so fast! While I do absolutely LOVE The Vampire Diaries, the nosebleeds were not inspired by them. I wanted the Auguries to have a very nasty side effect, so that’s where the bleeding comes from. You’ll have to wait for book 2 to see if we get any more news on Lily… And I love Ash and Garnet equally, so I do not mind if you prefer one to the other ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much for reading and for reaching out!

      • Sandi says:

Hi, I loved this book. But then I kinda got confused towards the ending. What exactly happened? And who is Garnet? For a second, Ithought that Garnet was actuallt Lucien, but then I immediately let that go away.

        • AmyEwing says:

You will have to read the second book and find out! But no, Garnet and Lucien are separate people ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Liv says:

Oh my gosh!!! Totally team Garnet too! Sorry. I’m not a real big fan of Ash. Sometimes this whole romance thing gets so old with the same type of guy, but Garnet is so different. I read the Jewel in a day and a half and the White Rose in a day. Is there going to be a third?

      • AmyEwing says:

The perk of being the author is I get to love ALL of them! I adore both of my boys ๐Ÿ™‚ There is going to be a third book. It’s called The Black Key and it will be out in October!

  5. Suzie says:

I just want to say I absolutely loved this book! My favorite thing about this book is how I was so infatuated with this world they were living in I didn’t want to skip out on any details. I also liked how the love story was a secondary type plot more towards the end. You are an amazing Author and I simply cannot wait to read the next one! All of your characters have such interesting background stories to them that I just want to get to know them all. I hope you will come to the NJ/PA area soon so that I can meet you!! I cannot make the October 7th date ๐Ÿ™ Now that I am done Fangirling you…

How many books will be in this series?

Where did you come up with all of the names? I love books that use different names.

Is there a world out side of the Jewel? I kind of picture it like a big island but I wasn’t sure if there was anything else out there.

Again you are amazing and I really look forward to reading anything else you write.

    • AmyEwing says:

Oh, I am SO thrilled you enjoyed The Jewel!! I have actually just signed up to do an event at that same B&N in Princeton, on Dec 13th, so hopefully that date is better for you ๐Ÿ™‚

This will be a trilogy, so two more books to come! There will also be some novellas being released, the first one being from Raven’s perspective. The names are all based on which circle you are from–for example, in the Marsh, people are named for physical characteristics whereas in the Jewel, they are named after gemstones. As far as anything being outside the island, well you will have to read the rest of the series to see! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you so much for reaching out! XO

    • BreeAnna M. Lewis says:

I think she got ost of the names from Jewels and Gems because i looked them up a few days ago. My thing is Did you read any other books you have read make an impact on your book The Jewel?

  6. Zara says:

Hi! I just read The Jewel and I absolutely loved it! Violet and Ash and Annabelle and Raven and Garnet and Hazel… I fell in love with all of them! I was looking for some books to read because I had finished some really good ones and I had high expectations and your book aced it! I can’t wait for the next book and I can already picture your book as a top movie series.
I have a few question though-
    What happened to Lily?
Does Ash escape with Violet and live happily ever after?
Does Garnet come into Violets love life?
Sorry to bombard you with all those questions. Hopefully you may reply. Thanks!

    • Zara says:

Wow! I just read your reply to Suzie before. The way you name your characters based on what circle they’re from is smart! I love books with interesting names, not hard to forget, but not boring. Ahh! I can’t wait for the other book?

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you enjoyed The Jewel!! Ah, but you will have to read the rest of the books to find the answers to your questions… ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • BreeAnna M. Lewis says:

I just wanted to, i dont i guess compare your book to another called The Chemical Garden Trilogy. The names of some of the characters are the same and the characters family settings too. Other books that remind me of this book are, The Selection by Keira Cass, Wither, Fever, and Sever by Lauren DeStefano.

        • BreeAnna M. Lewis says:

Sorry um. I get a little carried away but i wanted to tell you that I am currently doing a book report about your book and i would like to share it with you but i dont have a email for you….so yea just had that to say and cannot wait for your new books coming.!!!

  7. Minna says:

Hi! I just wanted to say that I absolutely adore this book! I bought this book yesterday and today I’m finished with a dying wish to read book 2. I hope it’ll come out soon and I promise that I’ll buy it right away, I’m about to present this book to my friends and they’re going to love it too! You’re an inspiration and ps, I’m a vampire diaries fan myself, I’m a Violet kind of fan… ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you liked The Jewel! The second one is scheduled for next September, but there will be two novellas released in the meantime to tide you over ๐Ÿ™‚ Yay for the TVD and Violet love!

  8. Cecilia says:

I would just like to say that i recently purchased your book and i couldnt put it down! It’s very well written, and I love how the power relations in this world revolves around the female population! Very fresh! Can’t wait for all the other books part of this series! (:

  9. Irene K. says:

The Jewel was an amazing book!!! I can’t wait to read the second one! I have a question (actually with a few layers to it), but you probably had to answer it before so I am sorry for being repetitive. How did you come up with the idea for this book, of surrogates, auguries, and the setup of the Lone city? Thank You for your time! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you liked The Jewel! I came up with the idea while watching the movie Taken–weird, I know. There’s a scene in the movie when Liam Neeson’s daughter (the one who gets taken) is paraded onto a stage and bid on by wealthy men to serve as a sex slave. And as I watched that scene, I thought to myself, what if instead of men buying this girl it was women? And that question just spiraled out in my mind, and the Auction and Violet’s story came to life ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Kira says:

    Hello Amy,

I just went through your book in like NO time! I LOVED it! I really like how all the characters and the world around them is so clear to the reader, as often some characters are just on the side and never really given any personality.

When I reached the end I went right into the acknowledgements when I realised ” OH NOOO it’s over?” Haha.

I am sooo much looking forward to both the second book and to the second perspective coming out in between. I was wondering however, is the Jewel planned as a trilogy or will there be more, like 5 books? I really want to know now how it turns out for all of them and I hope you can include all of it in the following books.

    Love from Berlin, Germany,

    Kira

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks Kira! I’m so glad you liked The Jewel! It’s set as just a trilogy–planning out three books is mighty hard, I can’t even imagine trying to plan five ๐Ÿ™‚ You’ll definitely get to see more of our main characters, as well as meet some exciting new ones. Thanks for reaching out!

  11. Yomna says:

    Hi,
I just wanted to ask a question about your book The Jewel, I recently finished reading it and I didn’t understand what exactly an augery is, because I searched it up on the internet and it said an omen or how you interpret an omen so can you please clarify how an augery is defined in the book. Also, I loved your writing and I think you are really awesome!

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you enjoyed The Jewel! You are actually spot-on with the Auguries. I made them up, but took the name because it meant omen, and the girls could custom make a baby, giving a feel of foreshadowing. But as for the Auguries themselves, like I said, they are complete work of my imagination. The surrogates have the power to alter something’s color or shape, and they can make plants grow. I hope this answers your question! And thank you for reading!

  12. Kaila says:

I have honestly read so many books because I am such a book nerd but this is by far my favourite. The Jewel is the best book I’ve read and I love it so so much! Thankyou for sharing such an amazing book with the world!

  13. Lindy says:

I devoured this beautiful book over the weekend. In my quest to find out more I discovered we have to wait a year for the sequel.

  14. Sarah says:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE mak the second book release date sooner!!! Love The Jewel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!! I need to know what happens!!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hahahaha, I know, why is October so far away??? Publishing is a very slow business. But I’m so glad you liked The Jewel!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Misty says:

I never…I mean never do this but I just finished The Jewel and I’m…lost for words. Truly. Bravo! And this is your debut novel? I’m stunned. Soooo good! I love this book. I’m so sad I won’t get to continue on this incredible journey with Violet until October lol. You can be sure I’ll be purchasing The House of Stone immediately after I’m done here. ๐Ÿ˜€ Amazingly brilliant work!

    • AmyEwing says:

Wow, thank you so much!! I know, October seems like so far away…but at least there will be a little Raven to tide you over ๐Ÿ™‚ XO

  16. Rae says:

The Jewel was amazing. I saw the cover and I fell in love with it. I can’t wait until the second book comes out. I just finished it and was left with a HUGE cliffhanger.

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much!!! I love the cover too ๐Ÿ™‚ As an author, we don’t get much say in what goes on the covers of our books, so I feel super lucky to have such a gorgeous image for this story!

  17. Gabrielle says:

    Hi!
I loved your book and can’t wait the second book to come out. I was wondering what you do when you have trouble coming up with a character? Is there a process that you go through to plan your them?
    Thank you!

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you liked The Jewel! As to your character question, I’m not sure I can give you a good answer–my characters always sort of show up in my head and tell me what to do. Sometimes you have to let them lead you. Listen to their voice. For example, Garnet was never intended to be a major character. And then he showed up on the page (much later than he appears in The Jewel as it is now) and I thought, “This guy! I want more of this guy.” So I went back and weaved him into the story. It’s okay to figure a character out later down the road. It’s okay to have characters surprise you. That’s one of my favorite parts of this job!

  18. Katie says:

First of all I want to say how much I loved your book, I read it in under a day and I thought it was great and I really can’t wait for the second book because I really want to find out what is going to happen to Ash and Raven. And I also want to know what is going on with Garnet. I love writing and I thought your writing was really talented. I also love The Vampire Diaries so much! It is my absolute favourite thing ever!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you liked The Jewel!! I promise you’ll get more answers (and probably more questions!) in the second book ๐Ÿ™‚ And yes, I LOVE The Vampire Diaries! Team Stefan all the way (unlike everyone else who watches that show, I know!).

  19. Jess says:

    Hi,
I just wanted to tell you what an amazing writer you are. I was wondering how you came up with the idea for your brilliant book. Also how old where you when u started writing?

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Jess! I’m go glad you liked The Jewel ๐Ÿ™‚ Here is a blog post I wrote about where I came up with the idea for it:

      http://www.epicreads.com/blog/cover-reveal-the-jewel-by-amy-ewing/

I’m pretty sure I have always been writing little stories just for me, but I never ever considered it as a career until I was in my late twenties. I applied to a Master’s program in writing for children and got accepted and it changed my life. Favorite books and TV shows? Well, I love fantasy so Harry Potter, LOTR, Game of Thrones (and the GoT series as well); for contemporary, anything by Rainbow Rowell or Stephanie Perkins. TV shows…I love the Vampire Diaries, I am an avid Jeopardy fan, and I’m super into crime dramas. Obsessed with The Fall at the moment!

  20. Jess says:

Also what are your favourite books and TV series?

  21. Thalia says:

I just read your book, it took me one day. I really enjoyed the whole idea and Violet’s character. I want to know what happens in the second book!! Like with Garnet responding to here on the last page. Just so many feels were felt throughout this book. I actually cried at one point. And, OMG, is Ash going to die!?!?!? I cannot wait to read the sequel. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Awww thank you so much! I’m so glad you liked The Jewel!! And yes, many questions will be answered in The White Rose… ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Bri says:

Hi! I have read The Jewel and it was AMAZING!! I was blown away at how I never wanted to put it down (well that’s not a first!) Just wanted to say hi and that I am excited for the second book!

  23. Olivia says:

I just finished Jewel and I am diying because I have to wait a YEAR for the next book it was so good

  24. Olivia K says:

This is amazing! Congratulations! I just emailed you in regard the how amazing this book is!
    Olivia K, Australia

  25. maddy duchen says:

hi!!! i literally just finished the Jewel after staying up the whole night. I could not put it down and it was absolutely amazing!!! when does the next one come out because I really don’t want to wait any longer xx

    • AmyEwing says:

I’m so glad you liked The Jewel, Maddy!! The second book is called The White Rose and will be in stores Oct 6 ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. Jacqie says:

Hi Ms. Amy! I’m a Violet fan from Manila, Philippines. Your book was recommended by my friend and I’m done reading it, just now. I love the royal concept! It simply reminds me of the selectionโ™ฅ Your book is now one of my favorites! Thank you so much for publishing it. Can you go in Manila and hold a booksigning event? Please! You have a handful of fans here! And btw, are there prequels? And this might be out of the topic but can you make an ig account? We, fangirls are not satisfied with the twitter and blog thing. (Exaggeration inserted) So, I hope you’ll reply. Thanks you and hail the Jewel series! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Jacqie says:

I mean “Thank You.” Oh my! That typo was a shame ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ™‚

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Jacqie! I’m so excited you liked The Jewel!! I would absolutely LOVE to come to the Philippines so you can bet if my publisher gives me the opportunity I will grab it ๐Ÿ™‚ There are no prequels (yet!) but there will be an e-book novella released in July, before the second book comes out, which tells a bit of Raven’s story and what is happening to her in the House of the Stone. Thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me!! XO

  27. Julia says:

So after reading the Selection series, I went online and searched for books to read if you liked that, and The Jewel came up, so I thought why not try reading that. I bought it on my kindle yesterday and just finished, less than 24 hours later, and I have to say this is one of the best books I’ve read! I’m so excited for the next one! After finishing the Selection books I really wasn’t sure that I’d be able to find something that could compare to how much I loved them so soon after finishing them, because it usually takes me a while to find another series I like that much, but The Jewel quickly became one of my favorite books! I’m super excited for the next one to come out!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Julia!! I’m thrilled you liked The Jewel! I know how it is to find a series you love – so pleased this story made your list ๐Ÿ™‚ XO

      • Violet says:

๐Ÿ˜ฎ my name is the same as Violet’s! I’m so sad that Annabelle dies – I loved her :'( W-will there be another maid?

        • AmyEwing says:

Hahahaha, hi Violet! I know, I loved Annabelle too. But you’ll have to read the third book to find out what happens!

    • Violet says:

I also read the Selection – I also love it!!

  28. Charlotte says:

    Hi Miss Amy,

I just read Jewel, and it’s one of the best books that was far more better than Selection. I can’t wait for White Rose, so excited to read!

Also, I read your biography, and I was wondering how you were able published Jewel? I would love to hear about your experiences.

  29. Angelyn says:

Hi. I just finished The Jewel this afternoon. I spent two days to finish this book. And I really love your book. But then ending… oh my gosh..I can’t stop thinking about it. I mean at first I thought you won’t be writing book 2 till I did some research and I know that you’re going to write book 2. Please please please don’t let Ash die. I really love him. Team Ash all the wayyyy. When I first finish The Jewel I really feel like tearing the book apart (I’m sorry) but I really hate the Duchess. But I realllllly love your book, love the romance and love everything. But please I realllllllllyyyy do hopppppe Violet and Ash to be together. And Lily!!! Lily!!!!! Raven toooooooooooo

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Angelyn! Oh man, that would be SO CRUEL of me to just leave the story hanging there. Don’t worry, there will be two more books! I love Ash too!! And Lily. And Raven ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much for reading!! XO

  30. Rachel says:

OMG I just got done reading the first book and I LOVED IT! When will the next one come out because I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. I am literally mad at everything right now because I have never had to wait for a book sequel. Thank you so much for writing the book, it gave me life.

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks Rachel!! Hahaha, please don’t be mad at everything, the second book is coooooming! The White Rose will be in stores Oct 6 ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much for reading!! XO

  31. Angel Vdez says:

Hi Amy! I was wondering when will you release the 2nd boom of the jewels? I just finished reading the first one rn, and I automatically searched for the next book on the internet, unfortunately it’s not published yet. I hope you can inform me so that I can be the first one to buy it

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Angel! The second book in the series is called The White Rose and will be in stores on Oct 6 ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much for reading!! XO

  32. Sarah says:

Hi, wow, I can’t believe I’m talking to you! So in the book, I know that there are the 5 circles, but all the ones that I can remember are the Farm and the Marsh. Could you refresh my memory? And also, so with Annabelle, was she born into a life of servitude in the Jewel, like Violet was marked for being a surrogate, or was she offered up by her family, or did she offer herself, or something completely different? And I know that’s a run on sentence, but I’m too lazy to fix it. Also, do you know the name of the models on the covers of the Jewel and the White Rose; they are just so pretty! And one final question, because I’m just so curious. Where is the Jewel set, because many series such as the Selection and Uglies (which are fantastic series, might I add) have stories about how the earth was destroyed, or how people took over, and I was just wondering if you had anything like that for the Jewel. Okay, this is too much writing now, so bye, and thank you for making me long for a palace like the Duchess’, who is my favorite character, despite her evilness.

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Sarah! Oh my gosh, ok, let me get you some answers…

      1. THe Smoke, the Bank, and (obviously) the Jewel are the other circles of the city.

      2. Annabelle we get to learn more about so my lips are zipped on her situation and how she got there.

      3. It’s the same model on both covers and I do not know her name but I agree she’s beautiful!

      4. THe Jewel is not set in our world–unlike in The Selection. This isn’t a futuristic America or anything, it’s just a completely different, fantastical place of my own creation ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me!! XO

  33. Sweetzel says:

Hi! I’ve gone crazy about your book The Jewel. I was so happy when my mom gave it to me on my graduaion day, because it was the only last book left. What makes me even crazier is that it was hanging on the last part. I felt like i want to kill the Dutchess for doing it to Ash.

    • Sweetzel says:

I have so many things to say to you. But unfortunately, when i posted my comment it was cut off already.

  34. Ashley says:

Hello!!!! I cannot believe how good this book is. Could you please explain to me why there isn’t a movie out about this book. I mean this book is awsome!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks Ashley!! Hahaha, I would LOVE to see a movie of The Jewel–imagine all those dresses! I’m thrilled you enjoyed the book, thanks again! XO

  35. Sarah says:

    Hi Amy!

You have single handedly wrote my favourite book in the WORLD! I read it in one day and could NOT put it down. I can’t wait for the second one. Thank you for writing this because I loved it sooo much.

    • AmyEwing says:

Wow, thank you sooooo much, Sarah!! I am super thrilled you liked it ๐Ÿ™‚ And thank you for reading and reaching out! XO

  36. Hannah says:

Hi so omg I just finished The Jewel and the first thing I thought was that you had to be writing a sequel. And I guess you are…so I just wanted to let you know that I’m super excited for this next book, whenever it comes out, and that I really enjoyed The Jewel. I even enjoyed the ending even though it was a darn cliffhanger!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Hannah! I’m so excited you liked The Jewel! Yes, do not worry, there are more books coming. I would never be so mean as to end the story where it leaves off ๐Ÿ™‚ The second book is out Oct 6. Thank you so much for reading!! XO

  37. Hi! I’ve just read The Jewel for the second time and it just gets better! Though I must admit, I hate how you say ‘find out in the second book’ so frustrating! I have a few accusations that are most like true, and there’s definitely a part that Violet forgets and it annoys me to no end! I have to ask though, how did you manage to get this book published? Don’t get me wrong it most likely will become my favourite series, but I would love to get some advice from you! If I give you my email would that be possible? Thanks!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Fiona! I’m so excited you liked The Jewel! I know, waiting for the second book is HARD. But October is just around the corner! You can absolutely send me an email with any questions to amy@amyewingbooks.com ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. Sapphire says:

    Hi Amy,
I started reading The Jewel a few weeks ago and had finished it pretty quickly, seeing as I couldn’t stop myself from reading it!
Even though I have already finished reading the book, I just can’t seem to stop thinking about it. You have hands down written my absolute favourite book. Thank you so much ๐Ÿ™‚
I can’t wait for the next book, can October be coming any slower ๐Ÿ˜€ I know I will enjoy the next book as much as I have enjoyed The Jewel!!
    Thank you again!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thank you so much, Sapphire! I’m thrilled you liked it! I know, can’t October just get here already?? ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Sophia Kim says:

Hi! I’ve read this book a while ago and the ending just killed me, in a good way of course ๐Ÿ˜‰
    I am literally in love.
I just wanted to say that you’re amazing and thank you for writing this amazing book that I love and will love forever.
    Can’t wait for the sequel!

    • AmyEwing says:

Aww, thank you so much Sofia! I know, I am the worst with that ending. But I’m thrilled you liked The Jewel! And The White Rose is out SO SOON! XO

  40. Rebekah white says:

Hi Amy!! I just finished reading the white rose on my kobo app!! I couldn’t believe I was able to download it so early when I thought it didn’t come out until October 6th!!! My gosh you have really got me wanting to read more now!! Especially after another cliff hanger of an ending! Do you have any idea when the 3rd book will be out? I am assuming next year some time? Although I am going to find it so hard to wait!!!

    • AmyEwing says:

Thanks, Rebekah! Lucky you getting to read it early! The third book does have a title and I’ll be announcing it (and hopefully sharing it’s GORGEOUS cover) very soon!

  41. Christy says:

I really love your books!!! But can I have a favor?can you please list all the characters of the jewel series 1 please. Because I chose the jewel book as my home reading report in our school.โ˜บโ˜บโ˜บโ˜บโ˜บโ˜บ

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Christy! I’m so glad you like the series so far! Haha, I can’t list all the characters because there are just too many of them. I can tell you the main ones–Violet, Raven, Ash, Garnet, Lucien, and the Duchess. Good luck with the report!

  42. Nancy Gibson says:

When will the 3rd book of the Jewel series be released? I’m hooked!!!!!

  43. Raven says:

I just got your book from amazon, and I am in LOVE with it!!! I love how you capture my attention every few pages. What happens to Lucien? I’m only on page 236, but I’m dying to find out if Ash ends up with Violet, or if Garnet ends up with Violet. What does Raven mean when she’s talking to Violet about not forgetting her? I’m so confused!! Help me, someone.

    • AmyEwing says:

You have to keep reading to find out! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m so thrilled you’re enjoying the book so far!

  44. Kourtney says:

I love it i cant wait for the next book also i was wondering if the will be a movie because i think this would be an amazing movie!

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Amy! I’m so glad The Jewel got you into reading!! What a lovely thing for an author to hear ๐Ÿ™‚ I would LOVE it if The Jewel were made into a movie–alas, there are no current plans in the works right now. But fingers crossed that someday it will happen! xo

  48. Faith says:

Oh my gosh! I loved this book soooo much! I finished it in 2 days and then quickly put the next one on hold at the library. I bought the first one because I liked the selection series and also because I always judge a book by it’s cover. The Jewel had an amazing cover! Can’t wait for the second book and to read the novella. I lent the book to my sister, it was so good! Also, there was a short sneak peak of White Rose and now I can’t wait even more for the second book. Also, it was really nice to read a short story from Ash’s POV. You are such a good writer, and I love the detail you put into your work!

  49. Jordan says:

Hi so I read the two first books and I’m totally in love and I was just wondering when the third book is coming out?Because I just don’t want to read a ton of books and forget about this one. Or when it comes out not have an interest in it anymore because it was a long wait. No rush though because I know great books take time. And I want to be writer so I dont want to pressure you for the third one.

    • AmyEwing says:

Hi Jordan! Ah, I wish it was as easy as “I write the book quickly and it gets published” but books are released on the publisher’s schedule not the author’s. Luckily it won’t be too long of a wait for the third book! It’s in the final editing stages now and will be in stores in October ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so thrilled you’re enjoying the series, and I hope you like the ending! xo

  50. Emily says:

When is the 3rd book coming out?!

  51. Danielle says:

    Please write the third book
Your books are fantastic why do you end it with her sister be taken
Into the jewel. I am dying here

    • AmyEwing says:

Haha, don’t worry, Danielle, the third book is already written! Just in the final editing stages ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s called The Black Key and will be out in October!
